2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the cult classic BMX movie Rad.
This 1986 film, by director Hal Needham and writer Sam Bernard, is synonymous with 80s BMX culture.
Lifelong fans quote in online bike forums.
They petition for a DVD release.
They bid on collector shoes and fight over out-of-print soundtracks.
And they still turn out to meet its stars, both the actors and the riders.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Calgary Underground Film Festival, themovierad.com, and the Town of Cochrane and Calgary are presenting a weekend long celebration.
This will be happening August 19-21, 2011 in Calgary and Cochrane, Alberta, where the world renowned cult favorite was filmed.
Along with cast & crew in attendance, the anniversary event will include 35mm film screenings, a memorabilia museum, BMX museum, BMX related rides, tours of the shooting locations, and evening fun.
Proceeds from the event will help support the Cochrane BMX Association and the Calgary Underground Film Festival.
